Macmillan Cancer Support’s Really Good Night In fundraising event is tonight!

By getting together with friends and family, having fun and raising money for people affected by cancer, you can support charity.

As well as Macmillan’s tutorial from Sew Over It, we would also like to share a few project that you might like to try if you’re hosting or joining a really good night in.

Not only is East London’s Columbia Road home to one of London’s most famous flower markets, but also a number of wonderful, independent shops. One such business, owned by Jessie Chorley and Buddug Humphreys, is J&B The Shop.

Visiting J&B The Shop is like hopping into an old story book, of a tale woven with so many of our favourite things – vintage linens, paper, buttons, bits and bobs.

Their eclectic collection also includes Buddug’s theatrical headpieces and Jessie’s Mon Mariage wedding stationery.

The two very talented shop owners, first met in an art and design foundation course in Bangor, North Wales. With common interests and similar narratives running through their work, they started a stall at Broadway Market in 2005. Since 2010, they’ve had their very own store front at number 158A.

Cardiff’s arcades provides shoppers with something unique, and sometimes downright crazy (in the best possible way). The city’s craft and vintage lovers flock here, but it’s also a pilgrimage for outsiders – there are more than enough finds here to fill an afternoon admiring the wonderful wares on display.

Thought there are more, the main (and most bounty-filled) galleries are the Royal, Morgan, Castle and High Street Arcades, each an architectural masterpiece in their own right. Take a few moments to gaze at the curved glass roof of the Morgan Arcade, or spend some time on the balcony at the Castle Arcade, spying on shoppers as they scurry by underneath.

Ciao to our craft-lovin’ Italian cousins and creative peeps eager for adventure! If you’re in Vicenza on 7-10 March, 2013, you might want to take a trip to Abilmente. This four-day craft event is held in north-eastern Italy and plays host to a whole load of crafty goodness.

Abilmente takes place twice a year, in Spring and Autumn. The Spring event’s themes are cake design and paper… two of our favourite things!

There are over 1,000 courses and demonstrations to attend over the four days. Sign up to cake-decorating classes, brush up on your sewing skills, or have a nosey around work on display in the show’s exhibitions. You can also stock up on craft supplies and other handmade delights while you’re there too.

The Designers/Makers at The Winter Festival

Held at London’s Southbank Centre, The Designers/Makers Christmas Market was jam-packed with brilliant makes and lovely makers. Choosing handmade couldn’t have been easier: as far as the crafty eye could see there were colourful and individual pieces you could get your crafty mitts on.

The Designer/Makers Christmas Market 2012 – molliemakes.com

We’re very excited to announce that Mollie Makes has teamed up with the Designer / Makers Christmas Market. This fab event is being held at London’s Southbank Centre on 14, 15 & 16 December 2012.

If you’re out and about in the capital this weekend, you can expect plenty of cool creatives selling their wares, plus workshops to design your own wrapping paper, Christmas cards and decorations with the help of some of the lovely people there.
