Cross-stitch ceramics

Cross-stitch ceramics

Who said cross-stitch was just for fabric? Freshen up your crockery, ceramic tiles and other simple surfaces in no time at all with this super-quick and stylish idea

Cross-stitch ceramics

Plain crockery and ceramic markers marry in this sweet and simple cross-stitch ceramics project.

You will need:

• A ceramic surface (coasters, tiles, saucers etc.)
• Ceramic markers in your chosen colours
• Paper markers in the same colours
• Paper
• Sticky tape
• Alcohol

Step one:

Use the alcohol to carefully clean the ceramic coasters. Allow to dry before moving on to the next step.

Step two:

Next, you can plan out the design for the ceramic surface. We opted for a simple heart and floral design. Do this on paper, keeping in mind the object’s size (draw around the object itself if you want to be more precise).

Step three:

When you’re happy with the result, reproduce the sketches, starting from the top of the decoration, following the pattern you’ve created. Try to keep them straight if you can. Use a piece of adhesive tape to help you.
