Free-crochet-pattern-Crochet-Storage-Basket

Make chunky storage baskets for craft supplies and more with our free crochet patterns

Looking for a place to store your supplies? Look no further! These two free crochet patterns will help you keep everything neat and tidy. Hook matching storage tubs in sizes that measure approximately 7cm x 6.5cm and 6cm x 6cm. Small enough for popping on your sewing table or desk and big enough for storing bits and bobs that don’t have a ‘home’.

You’ll need:

• A 1kg (2.2lbs) cone of recycled cotton cord, type 12 in Optic White. This will be enough to make 1 large and 1 small storage tub. Buy from Textere Yarns
• 10mm (UK 000, US N/15) crochet hook
• Darning or tapestry needle with a large eye.

Step 1
Make a ‘magic loop’ by winding the yarn around two fingers. Insert the hook under the first strand and pull up a loop from the second strand. Once the first round is complete you can pull the tail end of yarn to close up the hole a bit.

Step 2
Ch 1, 6 dc into loop, ss to the first ch to join. [6 sts] These are the hardest to work with the thick cotton. Check you have the correct number of stitches after each round, and do not count the slip stitch or the first chain when working into the stitches.

Step 8
Rep step 7 another 3(2) times, by counting the first ch 3 as the first st, then tr 30(24), working in both loops of the st. [31(25)sts]. For the large basket you will have four rounds in total, and three rounds for the small basket.
