We asked three bloggers to come up with their own spin on our cover gift this month. Using some or all of the materials in the patchwork needlecase kit, free with issue 49, Candy PopTigerlilly Quinn and Fall for DIY made a delicate papercut bookmark, hexie fabric garland and a smocked necklace respectively – what a clever bunch! Bookmark tutorial using Mollie Makes 49 kit - 2

“I’m delighted to be taking part in a Mollie Makes DIY. Having spent much of 2014 with my head in a book I decided to make myself a patchwork papercut bookmark. It’s already had a lot of use and so if you’d like to make one here is my simple DIY.

You will need:
Mollie Makes 49‘s free patchwork needlecase kit

Step 1
Grab a pencil and draw your bookmark on card (I chose white but you may prefer a colour), and arrange your hexagon templates.

Draw around the templates.

Step 3
Using a blade carefully cut out the bookmark and templates.

Step 4
With scissors cut out some small squares of fabric and attach them to the inside of the bookmark. They can be fixed with sellotape or glue.

Step 5
Fold and stick the bookmark closed. Make a hole with a hole punch to fix the ribbon at the top – and you’re done. Proceed to the sofa with good book, tweet or Instagram us your bookmark, then put your feet up!
