Step 1
Make a batch of 5 mini pom poms in each colour (20 in total). First wrap the yarn around a fork until you get a generous bundle – keep the tread tightly packed and close together. Using a generous length of yarn, tie it as tight as you can in the centre of the yarn bundle. Pull the bundle off the fork and cut the loops at either end. Puff your pom pom and trim any long strands.

Step 2
Make a batch of 4 felt ruffles in each colour (16 in total). Cut a piece of felt 7cm x 8cm. Fold and stick the long edges (8cm) together using a hot glue gun. Starting at the folded edge, cut 0.5cm spaced strips into the felt stopping 1cm before the edge. Once the strips are cut, run a line of hot glue along the edge that’s not cut and roll until the felt takes a rosette shape.

Step 3
Make a string of mini bunting. Cut small triangle pieces out of felt using the bunting shape.Cut a length of wool approximately 15cm long. Stick the bunting pieces to the wool using a hot glue gun. You can choose any colour combination you like; we went for a random mix. Space 0.5 cm apart.

Step 4

Making the card house. Print the template and cut out all the house and roof shapes from card. We used pink for the main house, white glitter for the roof, windows and door centre, red for the heart and window centres.

Lightly score and fold along the dashed lines. Decorate the house using coloured card. We drew on little hearts and leaves using a white gel pen. Add thin double sided tape to all the edges and fix the house together. You could always glue your house together instead of using tape.

For an extra festive touch we added hot glue and iridescent glitter along the edge of the roof and windows to create a snowy look.

Step 5

Assemble your kitsch wreath. Taking a 17cm polystyrene wreath base, wrap the entire base in grosgrain ribbon. Fastening to the back with pins. Before fixing everything into place gather all your components and have a play with the design. We wanted our house in the top right hand corner working our pom poms, rosettes, baubles and bottle brush trees clockwise towards the bottom of the wreath.

Once you’re happy with your kitsch wreath stick the house and baubles into place with a hot glue gun and then pin the pom poms and felt rosettes in place. Really fill the gaps – you want the wreath to be densely packed.
