Meet the Mollie Makes Handmade Awards shortlisters

We had a tough time narrowing the entries down to just five per category, but we’ve made a decision. Here’s a peek at the makers who made the Mollie Makes Handmade Awards shortlist, come and meet them…

The Start Up Award shortlist
Awarded to a business in the handmade community established for a period of two years or less. Prize: A Day with Etsy – advice on setting up a shop, PR and communications and digital marketing plus a blog post on Etsy; a feature in and subscription to Mollie Makes; and a copy of our business book, Making It published by Anova.

The Established Business Award shortlist
Awarded to a small business in the handmade community who has been trading for two years or more. Prize: A half day mentorship session with Lisa Levis; a feature in and subscription to Mollie Makes; and a copy of our business book, Making It published by Anova.

The Social Enterprise Award shortlist
Awarded to the most inspirational and successful entrepreneur who runs a business with a clearly defined social and/or ethical purpose at its heart. Prize: £500 prize money; a feature in and subscription to Mollie Makes; and a copy of our business book, Making It published by Anova.

The Creative Idea Award shortlist
This award recognises an exceptional creative idea or innovation in the handmade community. Prize: A stall at one of the popular Crafty Fox Markets in London and a pair of tickets to the Crafty Fox Talks, a series of speaker-led events for designer makers; a feature in and subscription to Mollie Makes; and a copy of our business book, Making It published by Anova.

The Youth Award shortlist
Awarded to creative entrepreneur aged between 18 and 25 or under who has not yet established a business. Prize: A half day mentorship session with Lisa Comfort from Sew Over It; a feature in and subscription to Mollie Makes; and a copy of our business book, Making It published by Anova.

The awards will culminate on 11th June 2014 at a filmed event at the Proud Archivist in London where the judges will pick a winner from the shortlist in each category. Keep tabs on the winners and judges by following #HandmadeAwards on Twitter and Instagram.
