Four bra patterns we love

We’ve never attempted making bras. We can tick off knickers (The Makery do a lovely knickers kit if you’re looking to make some) but bralettes haven’t really been on the list of things to sew. Is this the same for you? That’s about to change because not only do these lingerie patterns look fairly simple but you’ll be more than a little charmed by the fabrics used to make them. Here’s our four most-wanted lingerie patterns…
It’s hard to choose just one bra pattern from Ohhh Lulu‘s shop on Etsy, but the modern racer back lace bralette pattern comes in two variations: you can make the bra with adjustable straps or romantic lace back – either is beautiful.
Out of all the lingerie patterns we’ve found, this Colette bra in jersey fabric looks like the comfiest. It’s called the ultimate lounge bra – truly looks the part. Get the tutorial over at Colette HQ.
Which DIY bra will we be making first? This one. Geneva of A Pair and A Spare shows you how to make a lace bralette. It looks so easy that a drawer full of handmade bras seems just one evening behind the sewing machine away.
The Watson bra is a 70s-inspired lingerie set that has the best of both worlds: it’s a comfortable day bra but if you make it as a longline bra you get night-out glam. Includes a sewalong, too! Make it.
Also on Cloth Habit you’ll find the full walk-through for the bra-making sewalong Amy ran in 2013. Find advice on supplies, which fabric to use and more. So many wonderful bra-making tips and tricks here.
