Yarn fans, there’s an event this month that’s going to make you feel all warm and woolly inside. The Campaign for Wool’s eighth annual Wool Week runs from 7th – 22nd October, and is all about educating, inspiring and promoting the benefits of the fluffy stuff.
To celebrate, we’ve lined up seven free tutorials for our knitting, crocheting and weaving pals. Keep a close watch on our website, where we’ll release a tutorial every morning from 7th – 13th October, plus a few surprises too.
There’s plenty going on during Wool Week to get involved with as well, from events to exhibitions. Here’s our pick.
Head to the Wool Fusion exhibition, for a curated look at the natural properties and versatility of wool. There’ll be eye-catching photography and video, as well as a collection of clothing and interior items to feast your crafty eyes on. Wool Fusion features workshops and talks too.
Where: Carousel, 35 Baker Street, London, W1U 8EN
When: Saturday 7th – Sunday 15th October
Time: 10am – 6pm
Hit the shops from 7th – 22nd October, to see how retailers are marking Wool Week with in-store activities and wool windows. Wool and The Gang, Brora and Walker Slater are all on board. There’ll also be an exclusive pop-up at Bicester Village, featuring a selection of items from retail partners. Iconic brand Jack Wills has also created a short film about their obsession with yarn (something we can all relate to).
The Campaign for Wool began in 2010, to spread the word about the benefits of yarn and expand and support the wool industry. It focuses around an annual Wool Week, with artisan, interiors and design-led activities. Find out more about The Campaign for Wool. Follow @campaignforwool on Insta for lots of pics of inquisitive sheep, sweeter-than-sweet lambs and squish-worthy balls of yarn. Get involved in the conversation using #woolweek.
