We suspect you’re going to like these crochet flower coasters. Actually, scratch that, we know you’re going to go wild for these… Today’s Tutorial Tuesday is a special treat, because it’s spring and because we are in love with Yvonne Eijkenduijn‘s style… Yvonne is joining us from Yvestown Blog to show us how to crochet these beautiful coasters…
Everyone please welcome Yvonne Eijkenduijn. She seems a little shy, but seriously she is behind one of the prettiest and most beautiful blogs we have ever seen, Yvestown. Take a look, not yet though. Later, once you’ve seen the coasters. You can pop over to buy the yarn Yvonne has used from her store.
These pretty coasters are easy enough for a beginner, small and easy to complete. Make them in a selection of colours and serve them with homemade lemonade and a stripy straw for pure perfection. Here we go…
You will need
Cotton 8 (available in the shop http://www.yvestown.com/shop/annell_cotton8.html)
3.0 – 3.5 mm hook
You can use any other lightweight yarn, but if you get thicker yarn the pattern will not have the same proportions.
6 ch and join with sl st to form a ring.
2 ch, 23 dc round into the ring, close with a sl st (total of 24 dc)
4 ch (counts as 1 dc + 2 ch) 1 dc in the closing sl st of the previous row
1 ch * skip 2 ch, in the next ch: 1 dc, 2 ch, 1 dc, 1 ch * Reapeat 7x from * to *. Close round with a sl st in the 2nd ch (of 4 ) of the start.
2 ch (counts as 1 dc), 1 dc, 2 ch, 2 dc under the 2 ch of the previous row, 1 sc under the 1 ch * 2 dc, 2 ch, 2 dc as before, 1 sc as before *. Reapeat 7 x from * to *. Close with a sl st in 2nd ch (of 2) of the start.
No build up with ch as before, directly 3 dc, 1 ch, 3 dc under the 2 ch of the previous row, 1 sc to the left and right of the sc of the previous row. Repeat 8 x and close with a sl st in the 1st ch of the previous row.
And there you have it, it really is that easy. Big thanks to Yvonne for sharing this beautiful crochet pattern with us at Mollie Makes. Don’t forget to take a trip on over to Yvestown for a feast of inspiration.
