Free sewing pattern: Liberty passport cover

Planning your summer holidays? Don’t forget your passport! Stitch up a Liberty print passport cover with this simple pattern and you’ll be responsible for the airport’s prettiest check-in.

You’ll need…
• Outer fabric, 22x15cm (8¾x6”)
• Felt lining, 22x15cm (8¾x6”)
• 2 x pocket fabric pieces, 8x15cm (3⅛x6”)
• 2 x felt lining for pockets, 8x15cm (3⅛x6”)
• 4 x suede right triangles, 8x8x11cm (3⅛x3⅛x4⅜”)

Step 1
Place the triangles 3½cm (1⅜”) in from the corners of the outer fabric, right sides facing. The hypotenuse of the triangle should face the corner of the outer fabric. Pin and sew. Press and sew a top stitch. Trim the ends.

Step 2
Place outer fabric and felt lining together, right sides facing. Sew, leaving a gap to turn. Turn, then tuck the opening seams inside. Press and hand stitch the opening closed.

Step 3
Place the pocket pieces and felt lining together, right sides facing. Sew, leaving a gap to turn. Turn, then tuck the opening seams inside. Press and hand stitch the opening closed. Sew a top stitch along one length of each pocket.

Step 4
Lay the pockets at each short edge of the outer fabric, wrong sides facing. The top-stitched edge of the pocket should face inwards. Whip stitch the top, side and bottom edges in place.
