We’re so sorry! We’ve realised that the final part of the pinafore dress pattern by Monica Russel in issue 71 is missing from the magazine – we’re sorry about that! You can find everything you need to complete the design here – just follow the pattern inside the issue, then move on to the missing instructions below to finish the back opening, armholes and neckline, and to add the pockets and button loop.
Using 4.5mm needles and Yarn B, with RS side facing pick up and knit 8 (9, 9, 10) sts down the back opening, 3 sts across the bottom of the back opening and 8 (9, 9, 10) sts up the second side of the back opening.

Using 4.5mm needles and Yarn B, with RS facing pick up and knit 46 (48, 50, 50) sts.

Using 4.5mm circular needles and Yarn B, with RS facing pick up and knit 16 (17, 18, 18] sts across back neck to shoulder, 26 (26, 26, 26) down side of neck, across front of neck, and up to shoulder on second side, 16 (17, 18, 18) sts up second side of back neck. [58 (60, 62, 62) sts]

Pockets (make 2)
Using 4.5mm and Yarn B cast on 15 sts.

Change to Yarn A and 5mm needles
Row 6 (RS) k1, m1, k to last st, m1, k1 [17sts]
Beginning with a row 2 work in textured stitch for a further 23 rows
Pin on the pockets onto the dress approx. 10cm (4”) from the top of the picot edge and 4.5cm (1¾”) from the side seam, and sew in place using slip stitch.
Make a chain loop in Yarn B on one side of the back opening.
Sew a button at the top of the back to line up with the loop.
Sew in all loose ends and complete the dress by sewing up the side seams. Weave in all loose ends.
