Mollie Makes Handmade Awards winners 2018!

Meet the winners of the Mollie Makes Handmade Awards 2018!

On 9th July, Team Mollie and some of the top names in the UK creative community gathered at The Dead Dolls House in Islington for our fifth annual Mollie Makes Handmade Awards, and we all came dressed to impress! The awards remains the highlight of the team’s year, giving us a chance to shine a spotlight on those people turning their passion for handmade into a way of life.

“This year’s awards saw a record amount of entries, with hundreds of hugely talented designer-makers and creatives entering our UK-wide competion. We took over The Dead Dolls House with our shortlist of talented finalists for a day of creativity, entertainment and all-round inspiration. Everyone got the chance to pitch their businesses to our panel of industry experts including Keith Brymer-Jones, Fiona Humberstone and Catherine Nice. And, to help calm the nerves, we had lots going on – from Sas Petherick’s talk on overcoming self-doubt to In Colourful Company‘s fun photo walk around Islington. It was such an incredible day, and an amazing opportunity for our finalists to further develop their businesses and meet like-minded makers.” Mollie Makes Acting Editor Yvette Streeter

As well as presenting awards to the best and most creative makers, the day is packed with inspiring talks and crafty things to do. This year, we welcomed Lucy Rowan from Peas and Needles for a macramé plant hanger workshop, and learnt loads from Katie Leamon, Sara Tasker and Elisalex de Castro Peake‘s panel discussion on working smarter, not harder.

We’d like to thank everyone who entered the awards – we were so overwhelmed by all the talent out there in the creative community. To narrow it down to just 3 finalists per category was so difficult, and we can assure you there were many heated discussions had by Team Mollie along the way! A big thanks also to our finalists who bring with them the enthusiasm, passion, and individuality that makes the event such an amazing day for us all.

Pick up issue 96 of Mollie Makes (on sale 14th August) for quotes from this year’s winners, more details of their amazing prizes, and lots more pics of the day. But, for those itching to know who claimed the number one spot in each category, read on!
