Crafting live is hitting Edinburgh for the first time and it’s going to be bursting with creativity. Head to the award-winning event to stock up on all your craft essentials, watch demonstrations and get inspired with mini workshops run by a number of celebrity crafters.

Illuminated appliqué workshop
Up your appliqué game in this workshop, where you’ll combine traditional and contemporary techniques to create a unique piece of textile art. You’ll make fusible webbing appliqué which you’ll decorate with a stitched circuit to light up your design. All equipment is provided and it’s suitable for different skill levels.

Why not learn to whiz up your very own gift bags, so all your presents have that extra personal touch? There’s no need to bring anything along to Oodles of Craft’s workshop as patterned paper, templates and ribbon are all provided. You can bring your little ones too, as there’s a small play area to keep them happy.

The Contemporary Craft Festival
The popular fair is back for its fifteenth year, bringing over 200 contemporary crafters with it. From jewellery to textiles to furniture, there’ll be loads of products to ooh at. The event will also have a Children’s Craft Tent for wee ones, a Knitting Tent where you can learn some new skills, and The Festival Pottery Throwdown for all you potters. There’s The Craft Cinema too, showing vintage and contemporary craft and design films and housed in a 1967 bus. We’re there.

Intuitive Embroidery Workshop with Katy Biele
Katy Biele is hosting her first UK workshop at Creative Biscuit, London next month, hurrah! Head on over there if you’d like to create an embroidered floral bouquet using intuitive embroidery. Lampshade class at Kiln Workshop
Boring lampshade be gone! In this two-hour workshop Hannah Redden will show you how to make your own shade for your home. The materials will be provided apart from the fabric for the lampshade, so you can bring along your fave material from your stash.
