Meet Nikki McWilliams, designer of biscuit themed homewares and accessories, and the Mollie Makes Established Business Award winner. We caught up with Nikki to get the lowdown on her latest biscuity missions…
“The Mollie Makes Handmade Awards day was a wonderful experience. As a finalist I knew I’d be presenting to the judges at some point in the day, but it was hard to feel too nervous as I was surrounded by so many friendly, like-minded creatives. We spent the day doing the things we loved most like crafting, chatting and Instagraming it all! When they called my name as the winner of the Established Business Award I couldn’t believe it – just being in the same room as so many brilliant makers was award enough and such a treat!
My favourite part of the prize was my year’s subscription to Mollie Makes! Having each issue pop through my studio letterbox was a total joy. I make things for work every day, so it’s nice to have other projects to work on for fun – I especially loved having the DIY kits with each magazine. The month that my house was featured in (Mollie Makes 61) was my personal favourite…*wink*
Receiving the award was such a boost for me personally and I’ve used it to drive my business forward over the last year. Running your own business can be tough sometimes so to be recognised by my own community was so meaningful to me.
This year I’m working on some new pieces for my collection, including a super fun monthly enamel pins subscription. My personal badge/pin stash has exploded over the last 6 months so I’m really excited about these!”
