Mollie Makes issue 117 - the Fashion Revolution issue

Issue 117 is now on sale and it’s making a stand. It’s our Fashion Revolution issue, so get ready to say farewell to fast fashion, goodbye to wasteful projects, and so long to one-wear items! Fashion Revolution week runs from 20th-26th April this year (keep scrolling to meet the woman behind the organisation), so issue 117 is full of projects to get you making, fixing, and thinking more ethically about your own clothes. We’ve even given you a head start with two amazing gifts – a 2-in-1 dress pattern by Tilly and the Buttons, and an all-you-need-to-know guide to dressmaking. So, when the #whomademyclothes hashtag kicks off again, your answer can be you! Find out where to buy a copy here or buy one online here.

Your gifts!

Mollie Makes issue 117 gift

Issue 117’s first gift is this 2-in-1 Suki dress pattern by none other than Tilly and the Buttons. Making your own clothes is the ultimate way to reject fast fashion, keeping your wardrobe sustainable and creating pieces that’ll last you a lifetime. And, there’s no one better to teach us how to sew than dressmaking legend Tilly Walnes.

The pattern includes a step-by-guide for making both versions of the Suki dress, and we’ve got a bunch of sewing videos here to help you out, plus tips from Tilly herself. All you need to do is pick up a copy of issue 117 to get the pattern and sew along.

And, as if that wasn’t enough, we’re also giving you an all-you-need-to-know guide to dressmaking! Your fold-out Sewing Made Easy sheet includes all the essential info, from how to measure yourself and make pattern adjustments to what fabrics work best. Use it to sew your Suki dress, then keep it to hand throughout your me-made wardrobe journey.

Meet Julie Chaussende and Orsola de Castro

As 117 is our Fashion Revolution issue, we spoke to two ladies on a mission to make shopping more sustainable. First, we met up with the woman who founded Fashion Revolution, Orsola de Castro. We interviewed her about her not-for-profit organisation, the importance of the #whomademyclothes hashtag, and how we can all become more conscious consumers.

Then, after we’d learnt all of Orsola’s vital fashion expertise, we met Julie Chaussende from JOA. Julie’s brand turn pre-loved raw material into new, gorgeous pieces, making them one of the best sustainable brands out there. If you want to know how they get creative, zero-waste style, then pick up a copy of issue 117.
