With New Year sparkles and Vintage Valentines gone – almost overnight – we suddenly found ourselves featured in the pages of fashion mags. In March, Company High Street Edit featured our funky feather hair braids designed by Promise Tangeman, as seen in issue 11 of Mollie Makes. See… gorgeous! And then in November we found ourselves in Grazia, who selected a tutorial in Mollie Makes Christmas book as a top Christmas dec’.

Party time!

And then we turned one

Issue 14 marked one year of Mollie Makes and, man, did we party? We celebrated our first birthday by making a mascot Mollie doll, designed by Laura Hunter, and indulged ourselves with a plateful of felt macaroons by Ouissi Gresty. We also teamed up with Etsy to bring an eye-poppingly gorgeous wedding magazine, packed with party perfection. A girl can dream.

Going Womad!

Summer time

The summer brought Womad festival, and Mollie Makes and Oxfam Fashion joined forces to offer free craft workshops to festival-goers. A selection of world music, great food and activities created a laidback atmosphere where we could make friendship bracelets, hair braids and fabric buttons. Nothing quite like spending time with our readers and having a good ol’ craft natter.

Simply sweet things

In September we saw the launch of our big sis’, The Simple Things. Her motto is all about slowing down, enjoying the company of family and friends and making the most of what you’ve got and the time you have. Soon after that came Sweet, a new baking bookazine. It’s packed full of bakes, cakes and pretty makes for you to try at home, like delicious gingerbread and crafty felted custard creams.

As if that wasn’t enough, we also launched our little sister mag, Gathered by Mollie Makes for the iPad. The first issue was released on October 22, this fully interactive, weekly magazine comes packed full of creative projects, people and videos to inspire you and your work. If you’ve not come across it yet, do check it out!

We also released our first book, Mollie Makes Christmas, with lots of tutes for the festive season. We’re so chuffed with how many people have shared their makes and we hope it’ll bring you many more handmade Christmases.

Things to come

Right now we’re working on little bump, Simply Crochet, due on 10 January 2013. Featuring over 20 crochet patterns every month, technical advice, clear instructions and crochet inspiration, we know it’ll get you hooked on handmade!

We started 2012 by hanging up our sparkly new calendars and achieving great things and this year we suspect there will be more of the same. We’ve prepared Our 12 Months of Inspiration calendar from Selina Lake and looking forward to a craft-filled 2013.

We wish you a very prosperous 2013 and promise to bring you more fabulous makes in the year ahead. MM xx
