Time to wrap the pressies! In this gift wrapping tutorial we show you how to make a stack of fluffy pom poms, quick! We still dig making pom poms the traditional way, but when you’re facing a whole evening of wrapping presents, you’ll appreciate a zippy pom pom gadget. Here’s how to put a pom on it…
You will need:
• Presents wrapped in brown parcel paper
• Pom-pom makers
• Sharp fabric scissors
Wrap your Christmas gifts in brown parcel paper. Take three lengths of yarn in different colours and tie each around your present. This creates a layered look. Tidy up your strings to prevent overlapping.
Open up your pom-pom maker and wrap your yarn around the first two arms.
Wrap the yarn right to each edge of the pom-pom maker. Continue wrapping until it is thick with many layers. The thicker your pom-pom, the fuller it will be.
Repeat step 3 with the remaining two arms. At this stage you could also use another colour of yarn for an ombre effect.
Fold the pom-pom maker back to its circle shape and cut along the ridge of each half of the pom-pom maker. Hold both sections tightly while you cut.
Take a length of yarn and thread it between the two disks of the maker. Pull tight and tie a couple of knots to hold your pom-pom together. Remove pom-pom from maker.
Trim the pom-pom to give it a perfect circular shape. (Do not trim the yarn length used to tie the pom-pom).
Place the pom-pom on your wrapped present and tie to the yarn-wrapped gift. Cut excess strands. Tweak and twiddle with your poms until they are arranged beautiful on your present.
