Anthropologie (one of our favourite shops) does it again with an amazing series of events celebrating The London Design Festival
Molly Hatch has collaborated with Anthropologie for some time, her ceramics becoming synonymous with the American-based store. Her first show in the UK will be on show at The Gallery, part of Anthropologie’s Kings Road store. Molly’s work (pictured above) is inspired by the archives of the V&A, and she will also give a talk – Molly in Conversation with Selvedge – at the store on 17 September.
Gwyneth Leech paints on paper cups. After drinking a daily coffee, she began to see the paper of the disposable cup as a canvas and painted or drew an original work every day for a year. ’365 – A Year in Cups’ is an exhibition of Gwyneth’s cups, and the collaboration with Anthropologie means she will also be live painting in the Regent Street store window throughout the Festival. From mid-September, ceramic versions of Gwyneth Leech’s cups will be available exclusively through the store (pictured above).
Anthropologie will also host two live stitching events, featuring artist Harriet Riddell. Harriet has been described as a textile performance artist who stitches one of a kind portraits using her sewing machine (pictured above). Harriet will be at the Kings Road store during the Festival, and will be stitching portraits of shoppers.
Ceramics, coffee cups, sewing machines and Anthropologie? Some of our very favourite things coming together to create what sounds like a happening to remember.
